Discovery is ᴮʳᵒᵏᵉⁿ. The algorithm serves you what it's paid to serve you. The same twelve places. The same filtered photographs. The same hollow five-star reviews written by ⁿᵒᵇᵒᵈʸ in particular.

𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐫 tells the story of the greatest food and drink places in a city, town or cultural enclave

Founded by two people who care deeply about the culture of food and drink. Paul Robinson is a Creative Director and published author. Dave Olejnik founded Laynes cafe and bakery, one of the most quietly influential independent cafés in Leeds.

Between them, they've spent years building a mental map of the places that deserve to be found. 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐫 is that map, printed.

What will it look & feel like?

𓂃

𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐫 is a 160-page handbook, matt cover, novel-sized — 198 x 129mm.

There are no photographs inside. That's intentional. Images create instant judgement.

𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐫 uses words and illustrations instead. It describes how a place feels, not just how it looks.

The design is timeless by intention. No trends, no flourishes — just considered typography and well-crafted writing. The kind of thing that earns its place on a shelf and gets picked up again.

The Specifics

𓂃

Each venue featured in Sour receives four pages.

Two are a written editorial piece - shaped from the details, stories and personality you share with us. The other two are a clean, considered listing. Opening times, contact details, the essentials.

This isn't advertising. It's a permanent piece of editorial that belongs to you - to use on your website, your social channels, your press pack, your wall. Ours to publish. Yours to keep.

The founding partnership is £275.

In return you receive 25 copies of 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐫 to sell, gift or place however you choose - at an RRP of £13.99, that's a potential return of £349.75 from the copies alone.

Every copy of Sour carries a QR code linking to a curated Google Map — every featured venue, pinned and ready to navigate. So when someone finishes reading, they can find you.

𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐫 will be distributed across the city - placed in independent hotels, boutique stays and curated spaces where visitors are actively looking for somewhere worth going. We're building those relationships now, with the aim of putting the guide in front of people who are new to the city and ready to explore it.

Each edition will also have a launch event — a moment where the venues, the city and the people who love both come together. Details vary by city, but it's always an opportunity for visibility, press and the kind of word of mouth that doesn't come from an algorithm.

What you're investing in is a considered, lasting presence in something people will actually read, keep and recommend.

Each chapter comes with the basics: contact information, and a way in. We know you'll do your own exploring. Sour just opens the door.

Meet The Founders

Paul Robinson

Creative director and co-founder of 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐫. Spent years obsessing over what good design and honest storytelling can do for independent culture. Believes most media undersells the places it covers.

Dave Olejnik

Founder of Laynes cafe and bakery, Leeds. Spent fifteen years building one of the most respected independent cafés in the country. Knows what it means to run a place worth caring about - and what it looks like when nobody tells the story properly.

"Digital discovery promised clarity, but delivered ˢᵃᵗᵘʳᵃᵗⁱᵒⁿ. When everything is recommended, nothing truly is"
